01 / long-form

02 / short-form
after Story Hero I started my own channel from zero and took it to 14K followers. most of the work below is from it - shot, cut, graded and sound-designed by me, so the numbers are mine rather than shared credit. the client and brand-channel pieces are tagged as such.

more shares than saves - people sent it to each other rather than keeping it.

three shots underwater, one line on screen, no voiceover. the sound design carries the whole cut.

fast-cut training piece. music, SFX and pace built to carry ten seconds without a word spoken.

one continuous take, no cuts to hide behind. the hook has to come from the writing and the hold.
I cut this script five ways and posted them the same day. two broke out - this one and the other curse of discipline example in this section that did 280K. hook testing, not luck.
built and run end to end inside Niklas's brand - his voice, his motion treatments, nothing like my own feed.
short-form assets cut for his personal brand on Instagram - again in his voice, not mine.
a full episode cut down to a short-form clip with animated text - finding the moment that stands alone is most of the job.
locked-off top-down of one desk, a whole day in fifteen seconds. small reach, strongest engagement rate on the account.
slower storytelling cut with cinematic music. people stayed for the whole thing rather than bouncing off the opening.
landscape cinematic with voiceover. shot, graded and scored for feel rather than for the hook.
3-second retention
the share of viewers who stay past the first three seconds, averaged across every reel I posted in six months while I deliberately changed how I build openings. 28% in March, 46% in August - and the volume went from 9 reels that month to 55, so retention climbed while the output tripled.

03 / systems
folder structures, file naming, documented workflows, trackers and content calendars - built once, then everything runs through them. nobody has to ask where something is or what's coming next.
briefed and reviewed five editors and animators, kept the look consistent across 91 lessons, and wrote the SOPs down rather than carrying them in my head.
consistent folders, naming and bin structure on every project. hand it to anyone and they'd find their way around it in a minute.
I work with AI daily and keep up with the latest models. Video generation, AI-assisted editing tools that fix audio, dialogue or shots without a reshoot, on-brand graphics from a design system, batch processing and my own custom tooling. Everything around the edit, faster.
story, pacing, colour and sound stay human. AI speeds up the work around the edit, never the judgment inside it.
"Patrick is a powerhouse. Technical skills in every step of pre-production, production and post-production for making world class videos." "He has the work ethic and the people skills to actually deliver on projects on time, at the quality standards creators have."
"Patrick understands rhythm, pacing, and how to translate emotions into film - which is a very rare skill when it comes to video editors."
"Patrick killed it on our recent project. He moved fast, efficient and did exactly what I was hoping for."
"Being the lead editor is not an easy job, but Patrick was responsible for creating all of the video lessons that helped other people learn storytelling and filmmaking."
"We're so happy with the results! Patrick produced multiple music videos for us including Creative Direction, Scripting, Filming, Editing. Together with our vocalist, he made our visions come to life."
who you'd be hiring
I'm Patrick. German, based in Chiang Mai. for the last four years I was the person running the content function inside Story Hero Academy - Niklas Christl's education business - producing 91 course lessons, managing a team of five editors and animators, and building the systems the whole operation ran on through a launch that did $400K in two weeks.
alongside that I shoot and cut my own films on YouTube, run event work for Flow31, and built my own short-form channel to 14K - which is where the retention numbers further up came from. colour grading is the part I love most. before diving into filmmaking 8 years ago, I spent a decade as a professional musician, so rhythm, pacing and sound design are a close second.
contracts and NDAs both fine, and I work to your timezone.
in the field
I have years of experience in shoots, events and run-and-gun. if a role needs someone who can also hold the camera or direct on set, I've got you covered.
